One of the things that people can’t live without is a car. If you think about it most people would be lost without it.It is definitely a necessity nowadays. But it is an expensive thing to buy as well. And this is not just about the money that you spent on buying it.But also in the costs that you pay in keeping it maintained or in repairs. And if you truly want to get the most out of your car you need to keep it maintained. So here are some tips on keeping your car in good shape.
First thing you need to do is change the oil regularly. It sounds simple but it is very necessary for your car. I try to remind the customers of my San Diego auto repair shop how important it is. By regularly changing the oils of your car will definitely make your car last longer. But if you neglect it, there could be major damages to your car. Your car’s engine can get ruined without oil. That is a very expensive repair.
Another thing that not changing your oil can do is cause your car to fail a smog test. Not doing this and coupled with not doing regular tuneups will result to a failed smog test. It happens all the time at my San Diego smog check shop. I have people that bring their cars in who never changed their oil. And they also did not make their cars undergo tuneups. As a result, their cars run badly.Their engines also ran badly. So they failed their smog test. But that is just the beginning of problems. Not caring for your cars the way it was mentioned above will result to major problems.
Finally, you must take care of your brakes. This is another essential part of your car that is always used. And also, it is one part of your car that is very costly to repair. One of the pieces of advice I give to all my San Diego brake shop clients is to take care of their brakes.Abiding by these steps will make your car last longer.

One thing a lot of people are unaware of is how important your car’s maintenance is. We take for granted these cars that get us around wherever we want to go.We don’t even seem aware that our safety is at risk whenever we go out. Plus they seem unaware to the fact your car is also in danger whenever there is driving done.So the following are two very important auto repair jobs for your car.
First thing doing tuneups is really important to your car’s overall health. What I mean is to have a regular tune up schedule for your car.As talked about already, your car is really one of your big investments in life. If you don’t maintain it you run the risk of ruining it. I have seen many clients ruin their vehicle and take it into my San Diego auto repair shop after the fact.I notice that if there was just some routine maintenance performed, a lot of the problems could have been avoided.
Another point to take in is the fact when you do regular tuneups you will also make your car run cleaner. With so much emphasis falling on clean air and emmissions it is important. Because if you don’t take care of your car it can run the risk of faiing a smog check. I have seen older cars that when taken care of pass with flying colors in my San Diego smog check shop by doing regular tune ups.I have also witnessed the opposite way as well.Cars that the owners did not care for usually fail miserably.
Finally one of the very critical parts of your car will be the brakes. But most people don’t even give it a second thought most of the time.By not doing a good job of caring for your brakes you are taking a chance of more expensive repairs. In my San Diego brake shop I see cars have expensive brake repair jobs because they didn’t do simple maintenance. By just keeping an eye on their brakes.Or if they did have some checks performed on it regularly it could have saved them some money.

Maintaining their cars is one of the things that people hate about it. It is a waste of time and troublesome to bring your car to the repair shop. It is a hassle taking the time waiting for your car to get fixed.Plus it costs the owner a lot of money. What people don’t realize is if they had done some routine maintenance they could have avoided it. They could have not needed to do the repairs they paid for.
During my ownership of my San Diego auto repair business I always advise my clients to do regular maintenance. I try to show them by doing simple things they can avoid costly repairs. But their cars running smoother is not the only benefit that they can get. They will be more happy with the car that they own. This are the results when they just take care of their cars the way cars should be cared for.
First thing that they should do is to make their cars undergo regular tune ups. By keeping your car tuned up your engine runs smoother. And regular tuneups will also improve your car’s chances of passing a smog test. One of the biggest cause of failures in my San Diego smog check shop is the fact that people neglected their tune ups.Regular tune ups can greatly help in making a car pass a smog test.
Another suggestion I give to my clients is that they should always check and regularly maintain their brakes. One of the most costly repairs people bring into my San Diego brake shop is fixing the brakes.Something as simple as breaks may cost a lot and burn a hole in the car owner’s pockets. If they have to replace the brake system it can be expensive. But by just checking the fluid levels will help. Also, make sure to check if there are any noise coming from the breaks. Catching brake problems early lessens the damage.
These few simple steps when done by car owners will save them a fortune in repairs.

Buying and selling used cars is a huge business. It will grow bigger during bad economic times.More and more people need to sell the cars that they can’t maintain. While people that needs to buy a car will instead opt for a used car rather than a new one.Maintenance records are very important especially now in the information age.Mainly because used car records can be easily viewed and scrutinized.Cars that are more maintained will bring more money to the table. That is why it is very important for you to maintain your cars well.
You may have seen those commercials where a buyer is demanding to look at the cars maintenance records. That is something to believe in.As more people get to know about this service they may want to avail of it too.So your car must have a good record if you really plan on selling your used car. Whenever I service any client at my San Diego auto repair shop I make sure they always get a record of their service. The number of clients that think that this is not important may surprise you.
It is very important. For example with stricter smog laws you don’t want a car that hasn’t been maintained well. I get cars in all the time while checking them at my San Diego smog check shop who fail because of improper maintenance. Cars that pass these smog tests are the cars that are usually getting regular tuneups.Cars that have not been maintained are the ones that usually fail.
It also applies to the brakes. By not maintaining your brakes can turn minor brake jobs into expensive ones. Just by doing regular maintenance for my clients at my San Diego brake shop I have been able to save them hundreds if not thousands on extra expenses. And it might also save your and others lives by taking care of these brakes.
So in this age of information where every records can be searched be sure to keep records of all the services that your car has gone through. It will be able to help you in the long run.

There are some people who love their cars. They take care of them like it was their babies. Then there are those people who treat it just like something that can be ignored and would still be okay. They just use it to get around in. For those second group of people that is a wrong decision. And since it is a big investment people should take care of it by maintaining its parts.
As mentioned above people spend a lot of their money on buying cars. And since they already spent that money they should also take care of their cars so it can last for a long time. All my clients with my San Diego auto repair shop know this.I always remind them all the time that they need to make their cars undergo maintenance regularly. By taking good care of their cars they will have their cars last longer.By neglecting it they risk the cars and themselves in danger of an accident.
If their cars are already old then they should take care of it even more so that it can last longer. Especially when they don’t know how the previous owner cared for the car.If it is already an old car it might even need a smog test. If they wait to take care of their car after a smog check they run the risk of spending more money if it fails. I have seen this time and time again in the San Diego smog check shop that I run.If they just took the time to maintain their cars regularly then they could have saved a lot of money.
Finally whether it is new or old you want to take care of your brakes. The brakes are a vital part of your car. They save you when you need to stop. But they can also cost a lot of money if you neglect them. Most customers are shocked with San Diego brake shop repair prices after they have failed the test.Once again regular maintenance would cost you little money but it could save you a lot from major repairs.

Because you can be pretty sure that somebody who took care of their car, will have a car that will last longer. So when you have a car it is more important to keep good records.Because a lot of buyers will want to take a look at that.

In my San Diego auto repair business I make sure to give all my clients a receipt of the work that was done. Make sure whichever company you take your car into does the same. This could mean the difference in getting the price you want or settling for a lot less.
Also whenever you take your car in for a tune up keep a record of it.Getting your car tuned up regularly will allow your car to last longer and run smoother. It also helps to get your car to pass a smog test much easier. In my San Dieg smog check center I notice cars that weren’t tuned up regularly are the ones that fail the test.

This is from a perspective from my experience running a San Diego auto repair company. The two things I want to take a look at is your safety and the overall health of your car.
So when we are talking about safety in reality all vehicle maintenance pertains to safety. But there is a part of your car that is critical to safety. That part is your brakes. With automobiles going much faster than they used to, good brakes are a must. With people being distracted with so many things you really need good brakes.By ensuring that your brakes are in good condition you will ensure yourself the ability to stop in time. Well taken care of brakes save lives and money. I have seen it first hand running a San Diego brakes shop.
In relation to your car, your car’s overall health will be dependant on how well maintained you keep your car. Some of the crucial things you have to do is to make sure you always change the oil and get tune ups. What to look for in used cars

Well the time of people having a lot of wealth and extravagance is now gone. For a lot of Americans excessive items like a new car is a thing of the past. Now when a family is in need of a new car they are forced to look into buying a used car. This is evident in all of the financial problems the big 3 carmakers are having. There sales have plummetted.
But families will still be needing a form of transportation. But when the money is hard to come by most families are going to have to choose a cheaper option. That alternative is used cars.
As a San Diego auto repair shop owner I am asked to inspect some of these used cars. Because when you are buying a used car you don’t want a lemon. So by getting a proper inspection done you can avoid costly problems.
So when you are examining the used cars, take in mind these 2 things to look for.First you will want to inspect the brakes. We do San Diego brakes in our shop. So I know first hand that brake repairs can become expensive. If you buy a used car where the brakes were not taken care of by the previous owner it can become expensive. Last thing you want is to have to replace the entire braking system. So be sure you have good brakes.
Second, take care to make sure that it is able to run clean. In other words can it pass a smog test. In my business I do smog test in San Diego. The last thing I am sure you want to happen is to buy a car that is in need of expensive repairs. Especially if those repairs involve emission problems.
If you make a purchase of a used car that can’t pass a smog test that is not a good situation. It is a sign of a previous owner not taking care of it. Most likely they didn’t do oil changes or tuneups. These could be the start of a lot more problems in the future.
If you make sure to inspect these few items you can save yourself some money. By not inspecting you can lead yourself into some big repairs. When you need to save money, I am pretty sure you don’t want that.
