Night time photos is one of the hardest thing to perfect in photography. That would be the case when you do not have any ideas on what to do with your cameras. But if you have some idea then you can take great photos.  On the other hand if you don’t know what you are doing it will look ugly.  So here are some tips for you so you can be a better photographer at night.Following them will make you happy because of the results of your shots.

First of all, I hate to say it but equipment matters.  In other words you can’t have a cheap camera and expect it to take great shots.  It just isn’t equpped to do that.  As a San Diego wedding photographer I have had to learn that only cameras made to take photos at night will work.  It doesn’t specifically have to be made for the night, but it should have the ability. This tip could be very expensive to follow. But as soon as you have a better camera then it’s time to take night shots.

Second tip I would give is to not over-rely on the flash of your camera. You know what I am saying if you already experienced taking photos at night. It is something I had to learn as a San Diego photographer not to rely on the flash.Instead, use your camera’s features and use it well.  Know what your camera can do and for what circumstance.  This is good for beginners since you can preprogram your camera to take better photos.

Last tip is to use a lens that reduces camera shake.  Taking photos of many events as helped me realize the problem of camera shake.  So doing San Diego event photography has helped me gain experience.  I have found that using a special lens reduces this shake.  This will allow you to take crisper night time photos.

So there you go.Abiding by these steps will improve your skills in taking photos at nighttime.
